摘要

Acoltremon (TRYPTYR®), a first-in-class, transient receptor potential melastatin 8 (TRPM8) thermoreceptor agonist formulated as a topical 0.003% ophthalmic solution, is approved in the USA for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED) and represents a promising new treatment option. Acoltremon 0.003% demonstrated statistically significant improvements in tear production in two pivotal phase 3 trials, as well as statistically significant improvements in patient-reported signs and symptoms of DED compared with vehicle in one of these trials. Acoltremon 0.003% displayed a rapid onset of activity, with improvements in tear production evident from day 1 and sustained throughout the duration of all trials. Acoltremon 0.003% was well tolerated, including over the longer term, with low rates of study discontinuation and an overall favorable safety profile.
