Consider approved biologics and be aware of emerging agents in hidradenitis suppurativa
摘要
Treatment options for hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) have expanded with the approvals of three biologics, and a pipeline of at least six others that target key HS inflammatory mediators. Approximately 40–50% of people with moderate-to-severe disease achieved a clinical response to approved adalimumab, secukinumab or bimekizumab, with improvements often being rapid. Addressing further treatment gaps, new inhibitors of interleukin 1, 17, 36 and Janus kinase are in phase 3 trials (one in adolescents). In phase 2 studies, these new drugs have shown promise in improving clinical response, resolving draining fistulas, and showing efficacy in treatment-refractory patients.
