<p>Deuruxolitinib (LEQSELVI), a deuterated analogue of the Janus kinase (JAK) 1/2 inhibitor ruxolitinib, is being developed by Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries for the treatment of alopecia areata. In July 2024, deuruxolitinib received its first global approval for the treatment of severe alopecia areata in adults in the USA. Additionally, in March 2026, deuruxolitinib received approval in the same indication in the UK. This article summarizes the milestones in the development of deuruxolitinib leading to the approval for severe alopecia areata in adults.</p>
