Segmented adaptive predictive control of backside weld width in all-position STT root-pass welding
摘要
In all-position welding, a uniform backside weld width (Wb) can ensure the weld strength. Welding heat and arc force can facilitate the growth of Wb. A control strategy suitable for all-position surface tension transfer (STT) root-pass welding is proposed, and Wb is related to the heat input J and the normalized peak voltage change of arc K. The effect of the two characteristic parameters on Wb varies with the welding position. Under the condition of only adjusting the STT base current Ib, K is approximately a fixed value. A single-input single-output model with Ib as input and J as output was built using a Hammerstein model with interference. A segmented adaptive predictive controller was designed, which has good control effects for Wb in all-position STT root-pass welding. Under the conditions of a gap range of 0 − 1 mm and the misalignment range of 0 − 0.3 mm, the controller can control the system output near the reference expected to obtain a uniform Wb.
