摘要

Purpose of Review

This review aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the evolving global landscape of lymphedema by synthesizing recent research on prevention, diagnosis, and management, with a special emphasis on cancer-related lymphedema and challenges across differing resource settings. The goal is to answer how current strategies and innovations impact disease burden, patient outcomes, and future clinical practice.

Recent Findings

Current evidence highlights rising lymphedema rates across the world, and considerable disparities between high- and low-resource regions. Advances in early detection, prevention strategies, conservative therapies, and surgical innovations are improving outcomes. Promising pharmacological agents, including GLP-1 receptor agonists and immune modulators, warrant further evaluation as clinical trial results become available. Despite advances, incomplete standardization and significant resource gaps limit uniform application worldwide. Substantial variation exists in conservative therapy protocols and emerging treatments’ evidence requires further validation.

Summary

Recent research underscores the importance of early prevention, standardized diagnosis, and multimodal management of lymphedema. While new interventions offer promise, significant barriers remain in access, guideline standardization, and equitable care delivery. Coordinated international efforts, technology integration, and culturally tailored education will be central to improving outcomes and driving future research directions in lymphedema care. This review underscores pressing directions for research and international collaboration.
