摘要

Purpose of Review

To explore the impact of functional impairment in cancer survivors in Latin America through the analysis of studies describing physical, cognitive, and psychosocial sequelae following oncologic treatment.

Recent Findings

A total of 28 studies were reviewed, identifying a high prevalence of fatigue, chronic pain, cognitive impairments, and functional limitations. Women with breast cancer were the most frequently studied population. Functional deficits were also observed in children, adolescents, and older adults. Oncologic rehabilitation is poorly implemented in the region.

Summary

Functional impairment represents a significant burden for cancer survivors. There is an urgent need to strengthen rehabilitation services, generate regional evidence, and reduce inequities in access. This article proposes recommendations to improve the healthcare system’s response and ensure a comprehensive post-treatment approach.
