A thorough understanding of this class of medications is essential for care of surgical patients.</p> Recent Findings <p>GLP-1 receptor agonists have the potential to be revolutionary against the obesity epidemic. This review provides the most common clinical scenarios and challenges surgeons may encounter in caring for patients utilizing these medications.</p> Summary <p>Increased knowledge about the class of GLP-1 receptor agonists is essential for improving care of surgical patients as these medications increase in popularity. This will allow us to achieve the best possible outcomes in the treatment of patients both before and after the operating room.</p>

GLP-1 receptor agonists have the potential to be revolutionary against the obesity epidemic. This review provides the most common clinical scenarios and challenges surgeons may encounter in caring for patients utilizing these medications.

Summary

Increased knowledge about the class of GLP-1 receptor agonists is essential for improving care of surgical patients as these medications increase in popularity. This will allow us to achieve the best possible outcomes in the treatment of patients both before and after the operating room.
