Purpose of Review <p>In our review, we analysed the risk factors&#xa0;contributing to the development of oral cavity cancer (OCC), emphasizing the importance of identifying high- risk populations&#xa0;for effective early detection. We explored various methods employed for the preliminary detection of oral cancer, highlighting their scope and efficacy. Additionally, we examined the current and emerging trends in utilizing artificial intelligence for the early diagnosis of OCC, underscoring its potential to revolutionize detection stratergies.</p> Recent Findings <p>This article is intended to review the evidence of topics including but not limited to the evaluation of patients&#xa0;with suspicious oral mucosal lesions, and early biopsy as the gold standard for diagnosis while reflecting light on the newer advances in the field of early detection in oral cavity cancers (OCC). Currently, newer advanced techniques and especially the use of artificial intelligence in the early diagnosis of OCC are impacting the future direction of research in this field. A comprehensive understanding of the latest research will help develop the techniques that primary oral healthcare professionals can use. This will facilitate prompt referrals and significantly reduce the mortality rate associated with this disease by curbing the late-stage presentation to the various referral centers for definitive treatment.</p> Summary <p>Early detection of oral cavity cancers is a tremendous method which could significantly impact the decrease in morbidity and mortality rates associated with the disease. It will also decrease the socio-economic burden on the centers for definitive treatment. To achieve this, educating the community and oral health care professionals as well as more directed research using Artificial Intelligence is the need of the hour.</p>
