Experimental Evaluation of Temperature Variation in Solar Desalination Pond and its Effect on Evaporation Rate

Solar stills are one of the oldest and simplest methods for converting saltwater into freshwater. This method operates based on the simple principle of evaporation and condensation. In recent years, many efforts have been made to improve the performance of solar stills. Some of these efforts include the use of selective coatings, moisture absorbents, and optimized freshwater collection systems. In summary, solar stills are a traditional and simple method for water desalination that can be useful under specific conditions and considering their limitations. The results of this research show that the average temperature of the brine layer was approximately 68.12 degrees Celsius in July and approximately 36.22 degrees Celsius in January. The results of this study indicate that the maximum temperature difference of the brine layers occurred in April. The results of this research indicate that the maximum temperature of the outer glass surface occurred in August. Also, the maximum temperature of the inner glass surface occurred in July. The results of this study indicate that the maximum and minimum temperature differences between the brine and the inner glass surface occurred in July and November, respectively.
