Suitability Study of Ceramic Bearings for Wind Turbine Applications
摘要
One of the most important components of wind turbines are ‘bearings’ and requires design which will optimize reliability and economic efficiency while taking into account the characteristics of the applications. For bearings mainly the different compositions of steel materials like SAE 52100, 100Cr6, GCr15 are used. The main drawbacks of steel material are poor corrosion resistant, heavy, requires constant lubrication, etc. These drawbacks can affect the life of bearing and bearing working ability. Instead of steel material, ceramic material like silicon nitride, zirconia is having good corrosion resistant property, light in weight and not requires constant lubrication. This paper presents analysis of 2 MW wind turbine bearings which are cylindrical roller bearing (CRB) NCF 2328 and CRB NU 320 respectively. The numerical calculations done for Hertzian Contact Pressure and analysed with Finite Element Analysis for same with ANSYS R19.2 software. Wear calculations also done with transient structural analysis values. The analysis carried out with Chrome Steel (Steel 52,100) and Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) material properties and compared.
