摘要

This study examines into the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology for energy management, with an emphasis on increased efficiency and sustainability. IoT enables devices to communicate in real time, allowing for remote monitoring, automated control, and data-driven decision-making. IoT systems can collect, analyse, and visualise energy usage patterns by integrating sensors, cloud-based analytics, and smart dashboards to optimise operations in industries, commercial buildings, and healthcare facilities. A case study in a commercial building showed significant results, with energy consumption reduced by about 11%, resulting in annual savings of INR 16.74 lacs. While IoT provides benefits such as cost savings and a lower carbon footprint, there are still challenges with data security, privacy, and large-scale data management. Encryption, multi-factor authentication, and intelligent data handling are among the potential solutions. Looking ahead, the integration of artificial intelligence, advanced user interfaces, and low-power IoT devices is expected to boost efficiency even more, establishing IoT as a transformative enabler in modern energy management systems.
