Comparative Performance Analysis of Mono-facial and Bi-facial Solar Photovoltaic Grid Connected System

The necessity for efficient photovoltaic (PV) technology has been brought to light by the growing global movement towards solar energy due to its renewable and environmentally favorable characteristics. Using simulations with PVsyst 7.4.8 software, this study compares the demonstration of mono-facial and bi-facial solar photovoltaic system installed in Nagpur, India. Important factors such energy generation, efficiency, performance ratio, system losses, and output power are the main emphasis of the investigation. According to the results, the bifacial system works better than the mono-facial system, producing 6,230.94 kWh year as opposed to 5,061.58 kWh annually, with respective performance ratios of 80.35% and 77.90%. In addition, the study investigates how local elements like diffuse irradiance, ground reflectance, and panel orientation affect energy output. It finds that, in some circumstances, bifacial photovoltaic systems can generate more than 80% more power. The study also highlights how crucial it is to carefully evaluate the site and choose the best installation conditions in order to maximize the advantages of bifacial technology. The results imply that bifacial photovoltaic systems are more effective at utilizing solar energy, providing improved electrical performance and a notable decrease in CO2 emissions, hence facilitating the adoption of sustainable energy. For investors, policy officials, and design engineers looking to promote sustainable solar energy solutions, this study offers insightful information.
