摘要

Wound healing is the complex and time-consuming process, which involves cascade of phases. The potential use of the earthworm in medicine has been known for centuries. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to evaluate the wound healing activity by using the earthworm, Eisenia fetida extract. The wound healing property was evaluated by using scratch assay, focusing on rate of cell migration and percentage of wound closure at different time intervals (0, 6, 12 and 24 h) with different samples like untreated sample, Ascorbic acid (standard sample) and earthworm extract (test sample). Results revealed that E. fetida earthworm showed better rate of cell migration and good percentage of wound closure used in higher concentrations than the standard sample. Thus, this earthworm can be used to treat different kinds of wounds with no side effects and cost-efficient.
