<p>Women empowerment is&#xa0;essential for the health and socio-economic development of a family, a community and a country. Financial independence of women is important for overall development of any society or country. Entrepreneurship is crucial for economic growth of a country. Now-a-days women entrepreneurship is getting growing recognition across the world. Women entrepreneurs generate new jobs for themselves as well as for others. Entrepreneurial development among women helps to enhance their personal capabilities, self-confidence, decision-making ability, improvement in their financial status and respect from the society. Plant-based enterprises such as mushroom cultivation, herbal dye making, organic farming, compost making and manufacturing of herbal products viz. Rose water, <i>Aloe vera</i> juice, Hair oil can be taken up by women. All these enterprises do not require any formal degree in Plant Science. These can be started with less capital, limited land and infrastructure, and with few days of training. Development of women entrepreneurs would lead to eradication of poverty in India. The present study aims to highlight the various small-scale plant-based industries that can be set up by women leading to their empowerment which is vital for the progress of any country.</p>
