<p>Brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)&#xa0;and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)&#xa0;cultivation experiences heavy losses due to attack of a number of pests. Among the various pathogens including <i>Ralstonia solanacearum,</i> an important soil-borne pathogens causing diseases with severe yield loss up to 10–90%. The destructiveness of the pathogen is attributed because of its broad host range and capability to survive in soil for a long duration, existence of different strains, etc. During this study, a typical bacterial wilt symptom was observed in brinjals and tomato in four villages of East Sikkim, namely Assam Linzay, Phadamchen, Sajong and Singtam—a major vegetable growing region of the state. In this study, morpho-molecular characterization and identification of <i>R. solanacearum</i> isolated from diseased brinjal and tomato cultivated in Sikkim have been successfully demonstrated. At first, diseased plants were detected based on wilting symptoms and ooze test. Pathogen isolation was carried out following the culture of smear of stem segments of the diseased plants on the Casmino acid, Peptone, Glucose Agar (CPGA) medium. Morphological, biochemical, microscopic and molecular characterization confirmed the isolates as <i>R. solanacearum</i>, race 1, biovar -3, and phylotypes-I (Asiaticum). BLASTn in the NCBI database of the sequence data showed 98–100% similarity to <i>R. solanacearum</i> with accession number OM049425.1, and OM108213.1 for brinjal and tomato, respectively, which is alarming for vegetable cultivation in organic Sikkim.</p>
