摘要

Present paper highlighted the efficacy of agricultural waste towards decontamination of congo red dye from aqueous medium. Alcohol (N-butanol) modified potato plants biomass (ALMPPB) was used for adsorption of congo red by batch mode study. The synthesized adsorbent was characterized by various analytical instruments and optimization study was performed with Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The study results revealed that the adsorbent showed good adsorption capacity (qmax = 83.33 mg/g) with Langmuir model goodness of fit value is 0.973. Similarly, optimization study suggested that adsorbent is most effective under acidic pH (pH < 6.5) and contact time 90 min. Therefore, this study clearly suggested that waste agricultural residues could be a valuable sustainable material for pollution remediation.
