A Comprehensive Study on Schottky Diode for High-Speed Application

Due to its unique characteristics, the Schottky diode is highly demandable in various electronic applications. This review article provides a comprehensive study of the Schottky diode, focusing on the basic principle of operation, materials used to design, and fabrication techniques with various applications. Beginning with an introduction to the fundamental principles underlying Schottky diode operation, the review concludes the advancement in Schottky diode, including material used and emerging materials such as 2D and organic semiconductors. Moreover, the review highlights recent advancements and challenges in Schottky diode design. Additionally, the review surveys the diverse applications of Schottky diodes across different fields, including power electronics, radio-frequency (RF) circuits, photovoltaics, and sensors, emphasising their advantages and limitations in each application domain. Furthermore, emerging trends such as Schottky diode-based terahertz devices and flexible electronics are discussed.
