摘要

The present study reports the first live occurrence of the benthic Pleurobranchid sea slug Pleurobranchaea brockii Bergh, 1897 from the seagrass meadows of Haripur Creek, Gopalpur Odisha, India; observed during a coastal survey conducted on 9th December 2023 during low tide period. The recorded sea slug exhibits length of 12 cm and width of 6 cm. Predominantly P. brockii was reported from the Andaman & Nicobar coastal waters. However, there are no confirmed records yet from the Indian mainland. Although P. brockii has been mentioned in checklist from the Gulf of Mannar and Tamil Nadu coast, these reports lack detailed morphological descriptions and photographic evidence. Live existence of P. brockii along the seagrass fringed creek waters of southern Odisha coast suggests range extension from the Andaman region to the Indian mainland.
