Optimality Conditions for Interval-Valued Optimization Problems: A Real-Valued Optimization Approach

In this paper, we investigate a class of interval-valued optimization problems (IVOPs). To facilitate the use of standard optimization techniques, we reformulate an IVOP as an associated scalar optimization problem (ASOP) and a constrained optimization problem (ACOP). We establish theoretical results that connect efficient solutions of the IVOP with optimal solutions to the ASOP and ACOP. Exploiting these relationships, numerical methods designed for solving the ASOP and ACOP are employed to compute solutions of the IVOP.
