<p>The genus <i>Seligeria</i> Bruch &amp; Schimp. is reported here for the first time in India, represented by <i>Seligeria donniana.</i> The specimens were collected from the alpine region of Uttarakhand, western Himalaya. Most of the species of genus <i>Seligeria</i> are saxicolous, found in cold climatic condition. In lacking a peristome in their capsule, <i>S. donniana</i> distinctly differs from other species of the genus <i>Seligeria</i>. A brief taxonomic description, line drawing illustration and photo-plate provided to facilitate its future identification.</p>

The genus Seligeria Bruch & Schimp. is reported here for the first time in India, represented by Seligeria donniana.
