摘要

Sikkim, being the only organic state of India, uses no chemical pesticides to control pests and diseases. For managing pests and diseases, a proper identification of the causal organism is very much important in organic conditions. Dalle Khursani (Capsicum annuum L.) is one of the important cash crops of Sikkim, which received its GI tag during 2021. This chilli has not reported any disease till date other than viruses. However, during a field survey in Rumtek, East Sikkim, India, it was observed that the entire field of Dalle Khursani was affected by wilt disease. The infected plants exhibited the symptoms of upward and inward curling of leaves that turned yellow, followed by wilting of the whole plant with discoloration of the vascular tissue. Therefore, the objective of this investigation was to identify the causal organism of wilt, which will be helpful in the formulation of bio-pesticides for controlling this disease. A fungus was identified from the infected tissue. Based on the morphological and molecular characterization, Fusarium oxysporum has been identified as the causal agent of this wilt. The sequence obtained from molecular identification has been deposited in GenBank under accession number OR467445. This is the first report of Dalle Khursani wilt caused by F. oxysporum in India.
