摘要

Andaman & Nicobar Islands represent about 18% of the total coastline of India, yet harbor approximately 30% of the country’s seaweed diversity. In a recent exploration of seaweeds during 2024-25 around the coast of the Islands, we have documented 117 seaweed taxa, including 116 species and 1 infra-specific taxa belongs to three phylums, i.e. Chlorophyta (50 taxa), Heterokontophyta-Phaeophyceae (24 taxa) and Rhodophyta (43 taxa), 3 classes, 15 orders, 34 families and 59 genera. The list includes many new distributional records, including three taxa as new to India and three taxa as new records for Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
