摘要

Avifaunal diversity and its abundance measure the quality of the ecosystems and their ecological services. Diversified landscapes were assumed to furnish more niches or supportive resources which in turn help to increase the diversity of avifauna. Avifaunal surveys were executed in Mangar-Bani Forest from October 2022 to September 2023 for documentation of avian fauna. The study recorded 112 bird species across 15 orders and 48 families, dominated by passerines. According to the IUCN Red List, 1 species was Near Threatened i.e. Alexandrine Parakeet Palaeornis eupatria, and 1 was Endangered i.e. Egyptian Vulture Neophron percnopterus. As per the State of India’s Birds report (SoIB), four species belong to High-priority and 28 species belong to moderate-priority species of conservation. Owing to its distinctive climate and dense forest cover, Mangar-Bani has become a suitable habitat as well as stop-over site for numerous native and migratory bird species. The region provides a paradise for avian life, with favorable weather conditions ideal for migratory birds. Increasing anthropogenic pressure, changes in land use patterns, commercial exploitation of waterbodies and seasonal wetlands, forest fire, rampant grazing, and overuse of pesticides and herbicides rapidly degrade natural habitats.
