A Report on the Meggitt’s goby, Bathygobius Meggitti (Hora & Mukerji, 1936), from a Coastal Habitat in the Bay of Bengal, India
摘要
Meggitt's goby Bathygobius meggitti (Hora & Mukerji, 1936) is reported herewith from, Indian waters along with a morphological description. Specimens were collected from a tidal artificial rocky pool at Arjipalli beach, located near Gopalpur port on the Ganjam coast. The particular artificial rocky shore was purposefully constructed due to the port, which mostly gives shelter to many rocky shore inhabitants like gobies, blennies and parrot fishes etc. This study creates a potential insight regarding further studies in the small artificial rocky habitats and the importance of artificial shoreline rocky barriers for the aquatic environment.
