Enhancing Energy Dissipation with Vertical Obstructions on Gabion Stepped Spillways
摘要
This study investigates the energy dissipation performance of gabion stepped spillways enhanced with vertical obstructions placed over the steps width. Experiments were conducted on a maximum of three steps with a 45° slope, testing three vertical obstruction heights (3, 6 and 9 cm) arranged in uniform and staggered patterns across varying discharges. The results validated using the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) reveal that the addition and optimal arrangement of vertical obstructions can increase relative energy dissipation by up to 45.83% compared to configurations without obstructions, demonstrating their effectiveness in improving energy loss.
