<p>Sampling surveys were carried out in moist temperate Ban oak (<i>Quercus leucotrichophora</i>) forests of Uttarakhand state in northern India, from June 2020 to October 2023, using CFL lamps and a moth screen. 69&#xa0;days of sampling covering 207&#xa0;h in 4 sites across the state revealed 6875 moth individuals of 480 macro-moth species belonging to 22 families. These included 23 new range extensions into the Western Himalaya of the families Geometridae (11), Erebidae (07), Nolidae (02), Crambidae (01), Noctuidae (01) and Notodontidae (01). These new range extensions from the Central Himalaya, Eastern Himalaya and north-eastern India, are discussed in this paper that are indicative of the affinity of Ban oak forest moths with the temperate forests of the Himalayan Landscape, rather than the tropical Oriental region of Peninsular India and one of the reason for these range extensions could be the recent changes in climate across the globe.</p>
