<p>The present investigation focuses to compile a database of epiphytic microalgal diversity colonizing luxuriantly on submerged parts of <i>Eichhornia crassipes</i> in the Kolong River under Brahmaputra basin, a major river basin in South East Asia. A total of 147 epiphytic microalgal species were enumerated belonging to 69 genera, 41 families under 6 phyla. Desmidiaceae with 35 species emerged as species rich family followed by Scenedesmaceae (20) and Euglenophyceae (15). <i>Cosmarium</i> (Desmidiaceae) was the dominant genus with 23 species. Out of 147 identified algal species, a total of 10 species belonging to Chlorophyta (5), Heterokontophyta (4) and Euglenophyta (1) were reported as new to Indian algal flora from this region.</p>

摘要
