<p>Based on four key areas of debate in research on the professionalization of pedagogical interactions in ECEC settings, this paper outlines perspectives on a&#xa0;profession-based research framework that extends the praxeological-sociological approach and combines it with an analysis of pedagogical basic modes. This foundational theoretical perspective then structures the empirical research, which is based on documentary analysis of video recordings from three ECEC groups. A&#xa0;common feature of the reconstructed pedagogical interactions is their professionalized character (in terms of a&#xa0;constitutive framing) and the hierarchical relationship between educators and children. With regard to pedagogical basic modes, however, there are differences: here, the educational responsibilization of individuals contrasts with a&#xa0;mode of cultivating self-responsibility and self-exploration that, alongside education, also relies on nudging.</p>
