<p>Energie Baden-Württemberg AG (EnBW) is investing around € 280 million in the renewal and expansion of the existing Rudolf-Fettweis hydropower plant in Forbach in the Northern Black Forest. The two main power plants of the Rudolf-Fettweis facilities, the Murgwerk and the Schwarzenbachwerk, were built in two steps between 1914 and 1926. After over 100 years of operation, both plants have now reached the end of their service life. With the project “PSW Forbach - Neue Unterstufe”, the two hydropower plants will be replaced by new, modern once. The construction site started in January 2024, the work is progressing well, and so far, the geology has not presented any surprises. Approximately 85 % of the underground structures have been excavated so far and the tunneling work is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.</p>
