The extreme flood event of July 2021 highlighted the need for robust reservoir design methodologies. In response, a new envelope curve technique was developed, integrating proven approaches with hydrological expertise through incorporating maximum discharge thresholds. The method employs the Johnson distribution, which, due to its flexibility, is capable of converging towards extreme values. This innovative approach enhances robustness against extreme flood events compared to conventional methods.
