Einfluss einer Community Health Nurse auf die Krankheitsverarbeitung von chronisch Erkrankten – quantitative Ergebnisse einer Interventionsstudie
摘要
International studies show that the use of community health nurses (CHN) can improve the quality of care. Psychological factors, such as the way a person copes with the illness are important factors influencing the further course of the illness. The CHNs in their role as the first point of contact who act in accordance with the health goals of the patient, can be an effective measure. Empirical studies on the effectiveness of CHNs in Germany are still lacking.
ObjectiveThe effectiveness of community health nursing is examined using the example of the care of chronically ill patients. In particular, the article aims to examine how patients receiving a CHN intervention cope with the illness.
MethodsAs part of a randomized controlled study the coping of chronically ill patients was analyzed using a standardized quantitative survey. For this purpose, interventions carried out by CHNs were tested in an interprofessional team at a primary health care center and their effect on the coping of the chronically ill patients was examined. The three main interventions of the CHNs were nursing consultation sessions, home visits and education.
ResultsAfter the 1‑year intervention phase, the intervention group, in contrast to the control group, showed significant improvements in three out of five dimensions of coping with illness: in actions in problem-oriented coping (p = 0.017), distance and self-empowerment (p = 0.016) and depressive coping (p = 0.032); however, due to the small sample size (n = 52) no clear conclusions can be drawn about the effectiveness of the CHN interventions.
ConclusionThe positive tendencies of the intervention group could be an initial indication that CHN interventions can have a supportive effect in the care of chronically ill patients in Germany.
