<p>Ear acupuncture points are defined by their location and their resonance to a frequency and/or a test substance (ampoule). This establishes a connection between a point and the symptoms and pathogenesis of a disease. The biopsychosocial disease model forms the basis for classifying a symptom into its manifestation level. A comprehensive diagnosis in auriculomedicine is derived from these parameters. Acupuncture consists of a first point that curbs the disease, the so-called “sticking point”, and a second point that intensifies its e.ect, the so-called “counterpoint”. The sticking point and counterpoint complement each other like yin and yang.</p>
