<p>Defect-pyrochlore KNbWO<sub>6</sub>.H<sub>2</sub>O:<i>x</i>Eu<i>y</i>Dy was synthesized by ion exchange throughout hydrothermal reaction. ICP and XRD results presented that K<sup>+</sup> ions of KNbWO<sub>6</sub>⋅H<sub>2</sub>O are exchanged with Eu<sup>3+</sup> and Dy<sup>3+</sup> so that KNbWO<sub>6</sub>.H<sub>2</sub>O:<sub>x</sub>Eu<sub>y</sub>Dy have defect pyrochlore structure with space group of Fd<InlineEquation ID="IEq2"> <EquationSource Format="TEX">\(\bar{3}\)</EquationSource> </InlineEquation>m. At an excitation wavelength of 388&#xa0;nm emission spectra of KNbWO<sub>6</sub>.H<sub>2</sub>O:<i>x</i>Eu<i>y</i>Dy display three main emission peaks at 481, 574, 612&#xa0;nm in visible light region, due to electronic transitions of <sup>4</sup>F<sub>9/2</sub>→<sup>6</sup>H<sub>15/2</sub> (blue), <sup>4</sup>F<sub>9/2</sub>→<sup>6</sup>H<sub>13/2</sub> (yellow) in Dy<sup>3+</sup> and <sup>5</sup>D<sub>0</sub>→<sup>7</sup>F<sub>2</sub> (orange-red) in Eu<sup>3+</sup>, respectively. Finally the co-doped KNbWO6.H2O:0.092Eu0.036Dy with rare-earth ions exhibited yellow luminescence.</p> Graphical abstract <p></p>

Defect-pyrochlore KNbWO6.H2O:xEuyDy was synthesized by ion exchange throughout hydrothermal reaction. ICP and XRD results presented that K+ ions of KNbWO6⋅H2O are exchanged with Eu3+ and Dy3+ so that KNbWO6.H2O:xEuyDy have defect pyrochlore structure with space group of Fd \(\bar{3}\) m. At an excitation wavelength of 388 nm emission spectra of KNbWO6.H2O:xEuyDy display three main emission peaks at 481, 574, 612 nm in visible light region, due to electronic transitions of 4F9/26H15/2 (blue), 4F9/26H13/2 (yellow) in Dy3+ and 5D07F2 (orange-red) in Eu3+, respectively.
