Purpose of Review <p>This review aims to synthesize current knowledge on nutritional deficiencies relevant to inpatient dermatology, particularly in patients with cancer. We sought to identify risk factors, common dermatologic manifestations, and emerging management strategies in hospitalized patients experiencing cancer-related malnutrition.</p> Recent Findings <p>Recent studies highlight the high prevalence of malnutrition in hospitalized cancer patients, driven by treatment side effects, gastrointestinal dysfunction, and metabolic stress. Specific micronutrient deficiencies—such as zinc, vitamins B and C, and essential fatty acids—have been increasingly linked to characteristic cutaneous findings. Limited but growing evidence suggests potential benefit of targeted supplementation, such as zinc and high-dose vitamin D, in mitigating dermatologic toxicities from cancer therapies.</p> Summary <p>Nutritional deficiencies are a frequent but underrecognized contributor to dermatologic complications in hospitalized patients. Integrating nutritional assessment and targeted intervention into inpatient dermatologic care may improve outcomes. Future research is needed to establish screening protocols and evaluate the efficacy of supplementation strategies in high-risk cancer populations.</p>

Purpose of Review

This review aims to synthesize current knowledge on nutritional deficiencies relevant to inpatient dermatology, particularly in patients with cancer. We sought to identify risk factors, common dermatologic manifestations, and emerging management strategies in hospitalized patients experiencing cancer-related malnutrition.

Recent Findings
