Purpose of Review <p>To synthesize existing evidence on community-based geriatrics and palliative (i.e., geripalliative) care utilizing nurses and identify opportunities for future research, practice, and policy development.</p> Recent Findings <p>The global population of older adults with serious illnesses is growing rapidly, yet access to community-based palliative care remains limited. While palliative and geriatric nursing share a common foundation in holistic, person-centered care, few models explicitly integrate these approaches in community settings. No reviews at the intersection of geripalliative care have focused on the community and the role of nurses.</p> Summary <p>This review identified 15 studies across eight countries evaluating nurse-inclusive geripalliative interventions in community settings. Most studies demonstrated improvements in care processes such as symptom management and advance care planning. Outcomes such as healthcare utilization and quality of life were mixed. Nurses’ roles varied by setting, highlighting the need for clearer descriptions and evaluations of their contributions. More rigorous research is needed in the community setting, especially in low- and middle-income countries, where geripalliative care remains underdeveloped.</p>

Purpose of Review

Recent Findings

The global population of older adults with serious illnesses is growing rapidly, yet access to community-based palliative care remains limited.
