Case report. Progressieve pijnlijke zwelling van de glans en het corpus spongiosum: een zeldzame uiting van gemetastaseerd renaalcelcarcinoom
摘要
Penile metastasis from renal cell carcinoma (RCC) or any other primary tumour is uncommon, and when it occurs, it is often associated with a poor prognosis. Obstruction of the corpora cavernosa can trigger malignant priapism, which is a rare but well known clinical phenomenon. We describe the first case of a 52-year-old patient who presented with semi-acute pain and swelling confined to the corpus spongiosum and glans penis. Additional examination confirmed metastatic RCC in the corpus spongiosum and glans penis, including lymphogenic, osseous, and cerebral metastases. The patient received dexamethasone and palliative systemic therapy, and died three months after presentation. This study highlights the importance of considering metastatic disease in cases of unusual penile swelling.
