摘要

Background

Insulinomas are functional neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas responsible for approximately 10% of tumorinduced hypoglycemia cases. Their occurrence is rare in patients with type 2 diabetes undergoing long-term insulin therapy.

Case Presentation

We report the case of a 64-year-old diabetic patient with recurrent episodes of hypoglycemia. Imaging via computed tomography revealed a 16 mm mass located in the head of the pancreas.

Intervention

The patient underwent laparoscopic enucleation of the pancreatic mass and experienced a rapid postoperative recovery.

Conclusion

This case highlights the importance of prompt and accurate diagnosis of insulinoma in diabetic patients presenting with unexplained hypoglycemia. Early imaging and surgical intervention are crucial for improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
