<p>All children deserve inclusive and equitable education; however, school costs may pose a barrier to education and impact family wellbeing. With the cost of educational items and experiences continually increasing, some students, such as those whose families are experiencing homelessness, may be unable to access education in the same way as their peers. The aim of this study was to explore experiences of school cost affordability for families who access Specialist Homelessness Services in Australia. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to analyse data from eight semi-structured interviews with parents of school-aged children who reside in Victoria, Australia. Five themes were generated: unaffordable school costs, consequences for unpaid school costs, financial strain and prioritisation, factors affecting affordability for homeless families, and supportive resources. Findings illustrate that school costs are problematic and unaffordable for families who access Specialist Homelessness Services and adversely affect the school experience for children and families.</p>
