Some Studies on Effectiveness of Different Insole Materials in Occupational Shoes on Plantar Pressure Redistribution During Balanced Standing and Normal Straight Gait

Plantar fasciitis is a syndrome which is experienced in the foot sole by the repetitive stresses of prolonged standing and walking. Foot or plantar pressure measurement is essential to evaluate and perform course correction to achieve a balanced human body position, especially for young machine operators with footwear. The foot care insoles are important for maintaining foot health, preventing injuries, and improving comfort and mobility, especially for those with specific foot conditions or who engage in high-impact activities. The work presented here involves measuring plantar pressure exerted by 14 health India males’ left feet on 6 different insole materials. The samples chosen did not suffer any foot disorder, and their age ranged between 21 and 23 years. The height of the samples considered for this study was approximately 175 centimeters and weighed between 55 and 60 kg. The study deployed a cost-effective, portable plantar pressure acquisition system. Contact pressure is measured and analyzed at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th metatarsal head, Hallux, and heel regions of the feet under 6 different insole materials for balanced standing and normal straight gait conditions. The results reveal that the sole material made of PU L24 on EVA is 82.9–84.3% effective and outperforms other materials with a reduced planter pressure healthy sample group.
