<p>This article will develop the notion of general technology as a technological transcendental implicit in the work of Gilbert Simondon. It will do this by way of describing how it mediates empirical and transcendental approaches in philosophy of technology in a unique manner. As envisioned here, a general technology is constructed from empirically valid phenomena, which comes to establish transcendental properties through its involvement in knowledge production, environmental and cultural transformation, aesthetic and affective-emotional resonance as well as ethical and political engagements. The technological transcendental of general technology is also distinguished from those that understand technology as conditioning by way of the hypothetical imperatives of optimization, efficiency, standardization and rationalisation. As such it offers an approach for the development of a transductive technical culture.</p>
