Background <p>Fetal intra-abdominal umbilical vein varix (FIUVV) is a condition with an incidence of 0.4–1.1/1000 and is an isolated finding in 70–80% cases. FIUVV is associated with additional sonographic abnormalities such as cardiovascular, intracranial, renal, placental malformations, fetal growth restriction (FGR), oligohydramnios, fetal hydrops, and fetal anemia.</p> Objectives <p>The objective of the study was to evaluate the perinatal outcomes of fetuses with antenatal diagnoses of FIUVV.</p> Methodology <p>This was a retrospective observational study done at Fernandez Hospital, a tertiary perinatal referral center with 9,000 births on average annually. The study was done between January 2012 to December 2023. The outcomes studied were FGR, stillbirths, neonatal deaths, and associated congenital abnormalities. The data collected included gestational age at the diagnosis of FIUVV, maximum diameter of the varix, associated anatomical and chromosomal anomalies, and gestational age at birth, birth weight, fetal, and neonatal outcomes.</p> Results <p>The study period had 5,38,420 ultrasound examinations on 1,21,996 patients, and 110 cases of FIUVV were identified with an incidence of 0.08%. Mean maternal age was 34.1 ± 7.0&#xa0;years, and UVV was diagnosed at 30.7&#xa0;weeks of GA on average with a maximum diameter of 12.0 ± 4.0&#xa0;mm. Mean GA at delivery was 35.4 ± 5.6&#xa0;weeks. There were five stillbirths and one neonatal death.</p> Conclusion <p>The current study showed incidence of FIUVV as 0.08%. The study shows good fetal outcomes. The clinical significance of this condition remains uncertain, and management is controversial.</p>
