Spontaneous Rupture of Splenic Artery Aneurysm
摘要
Introduction
Spontaneous rupture of splenic artery aneurysm (SAA) in pregnancy and the postpartum period is a highly fatal occurrence with a reported maternal and fetal mortality of 75% and 95%, respectively. Two patients of portal cavernomata, one diagnosed antenatally and one intra-operatively on exploratory laparotomy, were included in this case study. Only one of the two patients could be salvaged.
ConclusionConsidering the high maternal and perinatal mortality rate, high degree of suspicion and swift and individualized management can help in averting maternal mortality in patients of portal cavernomata.
