Effect of Intratesticular Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy in Improving Semen Parameters in a Case of Severe Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia
摘要
Male factor alone contributes to 30% of cases of infertility. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is known to contain various growth factors and cytokines which help in tissue regeneration. We have performed intratesticular PRP for a 41-year-old male, married for 12 years with 1 prior live birth 8 years back followed by failure to conceive. Semen analysis done multiple times showed severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT). After proper consent and counselling, intratesticular PRP was done. FSH prior to PRP was 20 mIU/ml. Three months later, the count improved from severe OAT syndrome to a count of 14 mil/ml, progressive motility—45%, 30% normal forms with an FSH of 9 mIU/ml. Six months after the procedure, repeat semen analysis showed a count of 5 million/ml with 16% progressive motility, 24% normal forms and FSH levels 15.5 mIU/ml. In conclusion, intratesticular PRP in right group of patients does improve semen parameters.
