<p>The epibiotic relationship between the calanoid copepod <i>Pontella securifer</i> and the pennate diatom <i>Protoraphis atlantica</i> was reported from the coastal waters of the southwestern Bay of Bengal. The epizoic diatom was attached to the caudal rami and geniculated antennae of the neustonic copepod <i>Pontella securifer</i>. Epibiosis was observed on the male host from the coastal waters of Northern Tamil Nadu (Ennore) during the southwest monsoon (August 2023). The present study provides the first evidence of <i>Pontella securifer</i> being a host to <i>Protoraphis atlantica</i> and the first record of <i>Protoraphis atlantica</i> from the Bay of Bengal, Northern Indian Ocean.</p>
