Estimation for the Lindley distribution based on ranked set sampling schemes with unequal samples: a comparative study
摘要
Among various ranked set sampling (RSS) schemes, those with unequal sample sizes have received limited attention. This paper explores three newly proposed RSS-type schemes with unequal samples, namely the extreme ranked set sampling with unequal samples, maximum ranked set sampling with unequal samples, and minimum ranked set sampling with unequal samples, and studies their performance in estimating the Lindley distribution parameter using both classical and Bayesian methods. A simulation study and an illustrative example are presented to assess the estimators derived from these schemes, as well as from the traditional RSS scheme. The paper concludes with key findings and potential directions for future research.
