<p>Philosophers of mind and language often acknowledge the theoretical need for modes of presentation in explaining Frege cases and coordination. But can such modes ever be composite? This paper provides a framework and motivation for this idea, addresses redundancy and transparency objections to its articulation, and delineates applications of composite modes of presentation to singular reference, polysemy, and conceptual change.</p>
