<p>Digital Economy has become pivotal area of economy practice in current era, where both companies and workforces must continuously acquire and apply digital knowledge to remain competitive. In emerging countries such as Indonesia, the pace of digital transformation (DX) often surpasses the readiness of existing workforce capabilities. This study is positioned within a knowledge economy perspective, in other words the workforce readiness is fundamentally the capacity to absorb, apply, and diffuse new knowledge across the organization. Therefore, our study analyzes the readiness of the Indonesian banking sector, the leading service sector in Indonesia, in facing DX by identifying the accelerator factors in developing a future-ready workforce (FRW). A qualitative method with semi-structured interviews conducted to 10 participants from various senior management divisions within the banking sector, then the result transform through transcription, open coding, and thematic analysis to identify patterns related to banking readiness and workforce capabilities. We found banks in Indonesia are in a transitional phase towards digitalization, with hybrid banking system as the ideal model. Banker’s senior level argue, DX is expected to support effectiveness of bank operations through Robotic Process Automation (RPA). However, there exists a 40% skills gap between the digital skills required and the workforce capabilities, particularly on senior staff and needs on-the-job training (OJT), organizational restructuring a long with accelerate technology adaptation. The result provides valuable insights for the Indonesian banking sector in facing the challenges of DX and in shaping workforce development strategies on better preparation for the future.</p>
