<p>Blockchain technology has emerged as one of the most significant technological innovations of the twenty-first century. It has the potential to revolutionize various industries and subvert traditional production relations. Scholars worldwide have conducted extensive research on blockchain, exploring its applications in different fields. In this study, a knowledge map was used to analyze the research context of Chinese and international blockchain quantitatively. The study revealed several research hotspots in the field of blockchain. These hotspots include the Internet of Things (IoT), smart contracts, Bitcoin, and security. These topics have garnered significant attention both in China and in international research. In China, the focus of blockchain research is primarily on digital currency, inclusive finance, technology empowerment, and regulatory sandbox. The emphasis is on the sustainability of financial applications. On the other hand, international research on blockchain is more inclined toward identity authentication, validity, energy trading, and frame structure. These areas of research are more integrated with computer and electrical engineering, with a focus on the application of emerging technologies in the sustainability of industries. The findings of this study provide a comprehensive overview of the research conducted in the field of blockchain.
