<p>The mixed cropping of grasses and legumes has long been used to enhance crop yield, with legumes contributing through biological nitrogen fixation for plant uptake, and grasses supporting canopy formation and weed suppression. An experiment was conducted to assess the impact of two fertilizers, ammonium sulfate (AS) calcium nitrate (CN) on mixed and mono cropping. The <i>T. pratense</i> and <i>F. arundinacea</i> were planted both as monocrops and mixture under greenhouse conditions. The biomass of mixed cropping did not show an increasing trend, but CN increased root biomass (Three times higher with 200% of the CN fertilizer). The results indicated that both fertilizers had a positive effect on specific leaf area (SLA) which was higher in mixed cropping of <i>T. pratense</i> (A onefold increase with fertilizers). Additionally, SPAD values and photosynthetic rates were higher in mixed cropping with fertilizer application. AS also enhanced the crude protein (CP) and decreased the acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF). The mixtures improved soil organic carbon (SOC), available phosphorus (AP), total nitrogen (TN), and potassium (K) content. The study’s outcomes revealed positive effects, highlighting the beneficial implications of mixed cropping for both crop growth and quality.</p>
