<p>Over the last few years, digitalisation of healthcare has led to an increased offer of telemedical care services. The COVID 2019 pandemic further accelerated transition to remote care. Besides practical advantages, the evidence for clinical benefits of telemedicine-based care for various diseases has grown in recent years. Using heart failure as an example, the current evidence for telemonitoring is presented for various telemedicine treatment approaches and the supporting evidence, highlighting important positive and negative trials that helped to identify steps to improve telemedicine programmes.</p>
